Meanwhile, in Gee’s Bend, Alabama, the iconic “airing of the quilts” has kicked off in style! Picture vibrant, colorful quilts fluttering in the breeze, lighting up the town with patterns like stars and wedding rings. This year’s Airing of the Quilts Festival was a wonderful celebration of the rich heritage of Gee’s Bend, with both local artisans and new collaborators showing off their work. With the support of the Souls Grown Deep foundation, this festival is all about empowering these incredible quiltmakers and celebrating their artistry.
